Baseball Music
Baseball music is all over. From baseball songs to verbal baseball poems, and all in between...baseball has certainly made an impact on music, and music has definitely made an impact on baseball!! "Baseball-Brainiac is a Fantastic Source for Baseball Information"
Baseball songs have a big part in the in-game baseball action. Baseball songs generally occur when when a baseball player is brought onto the field, when a player hits a home run, when a baseball player strikes out, when a player is caught out...you get the idea!...theres baseball music for all kinds of situations on the field! As well as having baseball music on the field, baseball music is also a huge part off the field. There are literally thousands of baseball songs out there, it will be impossible to name them all. Probably the most well known of all the baseball songs is the song "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".
The words of the baseball song were written by Jack Norworth, and the music by Albert Von Tilzer...neither of them had attended a game prior to writing the song!!
Jack Norworth's wife Nora Bayes originally sang the famous piece of baseball music. Norworth wrote an alternative version of the song in 1927.
This famous piece of baseball music has seen so many renditions since it was first released in 1908. The Haydn Quartet singing group, led by popular tenor Harry MacDonough, recorded another version of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". Two other versions of ever popular piece of baseball music were also released. One by Harvey Hindermyer, and another by Edward Meeker. The chorus of the famous baseball song is traditionally sung during the seventh inning stretch of a baseball game, with the fans getting involved.
Modern times have seen celebrities sing this baseball song before the first pitch of the game, but this has not always been the case. Baseball music is all about the lyrics, the lyrics that make every hair on the back of your neck stand up when you hear them!
The lyrics of both versions of the baseball song "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" can be found below. "An Excellent Source for Baseball Information"
The 1908 Version Of The Baseball Song "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" Lyrics
Katie Casey was baseball mad, Had the fever and had it bad. Just to root for the home town crew, Ev'ry sou Katie blew. On a Saturday her young beau Called to see if she'd like to go To see a show, but Miss Kate said "No, I'll tell you what you can do:"
Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd; Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back. Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win, it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game.
Katie Casey saw all the games, Knew the players by their first names. Told the umpire he was wrong, All along, Good and strong. When the score was just two to two, Katie Casey knew what to do, Just to cheer up the boys she knew, She made the gang sing this song:
Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd; Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back. Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win, it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game.
The 1927 Version Of The Baseball Song "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" Lyrics
Nelly Kelly loved baseball games, Knew the players, knew all their names. You could see her there ev'ry day, Shout "Hurray" When they'd play. Her boyfriend by the name of Joe Said, "To Coney Isle, dear, let's go", Then Nelly started to fret and pout, And to him, I heard her shout:
Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd; Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back. Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win, it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game.
Nelly Kelly was sure some fan, She would root just like any man, Told the umpire he was wrong, All along, Good and strong. When the score was just two to two, Nelly Kelly knew what to do, Just to cheer up the boys she knew, She made the gang sing this song:
Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd; Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back. Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win, it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game.
Baseball music has certainly made a huge impact in the big wide world, inspiring many people to watch, teach and play baseball!...I couldn't imagine modern day baseball without the baseball music we all enjoy today! "WOW!! A Fantastic Source for Baseball History"
